William Henry Wallace’s life on Earth has gone full circle. Born March 15, 1931 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota, and departed this Earth at the same location on October 17, 2022 as the sun rose on his 91 years 7 months and 2nd day. William “Bill” entered this world followed very quickly by his twin brother Charles Colby Wallace, the twin sons of Harriet Colby Wallace and George Lloyd Wallace.
Bill came home to Lura township in Delavan, Minnesota and was greeted by his sister, Deloris on the family farm where they grew and attended country school, which led to Delavan Public School where Bill and friends enjoyed football, comic books, and tinkering with everything. He met Betty Jean Lux, his future wife and partner in life and business. It was said that the world was his toolbox.
Bill and Betty married March 9th 1951. The thrill of fixing things led to an occupation of repairing radios and later selling radios and televisions. The birth of their first son, Steven led to a store front being purchased on Delavan’s main street. Bill’s Radio and TV was born. Quickly following this, their second son Bradley was born. Hard work on the small grain farm and the TV and appliance business was paused for a week to 10 days each year for memorable vacations with family and friends. After retiring from the business Bill and Betty enjoyed Good Sam’s RV conventions, travel, and best of all, Bill and Betty enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, and the great friendships they established there over the years.
Left to remember Bill are his sons, Steven and wife Mercedes Wallace and Steven’s children, Kay (Matt) Stern, Sheena (Jason) Possin, Thomas (Amanda) Wallace, step daughter, Dania (Nick) Rentz, son, Bradley and wife Debbie Wallace and their children, Isaac (Tania) Wallace, Morgan (Brady) Johnson, and Gregory Wallace, sixteen great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Marjory Wallace, Shirley Millmann, Janet and husband, Roy Olsen, and brother-in-law, Richard and wife, Jeanne Lux, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty Wallace, infant granddaughter, Tina Wallace, parents, George and Harriet Wallace, mother and father-in-law, Lila and Orval Lux, sister, Deloris Prescher, brother, Charles Wallace, brother-in-laws, Ralph Prescher and Patrick Millmann.
