Virginia Mae Underdahl

Virginia Underdahl passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota, at the age of 91. Virginia Mae Underdahl was born July 16, 1928 in Bricelyn, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Tena (Halvorson) Marcus. On November 21, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to Claire Underdahl in Bricelyn, Minnesota. The couple farmed near Frost, Minnesota, and later Virginia worked as parish secretary for United Lutheran Church in Frost where they were members.  She also worked in the kitchen at St Luke’s Nursing Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota. The couple spent 15 years in Park Rapids where Virginia worked as the Dietary Supervisor at Heritage Living Center. It was in Park Rapids that Claire passed away on July 14, 2002. Virginia returned to Blue Earth and spent many years at New Life Manor. She enjoyed camping, quilting, playing Mexican Train Dominos, cards, and knitting Norwegian sweaters. Grateful for having shared Virginia’s life are: her children Gary and his wife Judy of Elmore, Minnesota, Chris Underdahl of Elmore, Minnesota, and Allison Sunde and her husband James of Estherville, Iowa; grandchildren Tena Hanson of Estherville, Iowa, Jill Sunde of Sioux Falls, SD, and Janny and her husband Peter Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD; two great-grandchildren Hailey and Aidan Hanson of Estherville, Iowa; two sisters Gayle Gullord of Amarillo, TX, and Sharon Mortensen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Virginia in death were her husband, parents, brother, a sister, and brothers and sisters-in-law. A private family service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
