Valeria “Vi” Ann Stauffer, 96, of Winnebago, MN, passed away at Heartland Truman Senior Living on Saturday, April 14, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Blue Earth, MN with Fr. Peter Klein officiating. Valeria was born on October 8, 1921 on a farm in Eagle Township, Iowa, the daughter of John and Frances (Tasarek) Goraczkowski. Valeria was a loving wife and mother. She devoted herself to raising her children and running the home. Vi loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers. She loved watching the birds and all the other animals that wandered through her yard. Vi enjoyed playing cards, trivia games, and doing puzzles. In Vi’s later years, she adopted a cat, “Abby” who was her constant companion and her baby. Vi was a straight-talking woman with no filter at times. She loved her coffee and gossip days with her friends and enjoyed watching her soap operas in the afternoon. Vi also volunteered for the neighborhood watch in her community in Winnebago. Vi married Henry Stauffer on October 8, 1942. They lived in Winnebago, MN and raised a large family. She is survived by her four sons, Steven (Joyce) Stauffer from McKinney, TX, Stanley (Linda) Stauffer of Winnebago, Leo (Annette) Stauffer of Winnebago, Joe (Nancy) Stauffer of Fairmont; four daughters, Mary Honken of Fremont, NE, Linda (Bob) Terhurne of Easton, Susan Collins of Winnebago, and Irene (Douglas) Hancock of Windom; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Swiontek of Detroit Lakes, Alvina Maine of Eden Prairie, and Pauline (Bill) Estep of Phoenix, Arizona; and many other loving relatives and friends. Vi is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; two daughters, Louise and Jean; son, John; grandson, Joseph Collins; great- granddaughter, Kati Terhurne; son-in-law, Roger Honken; grandson-in-law, Brent Schamp; granddaughter-in-law, Bonnie Stauffer; brothers, Rufine Goraczkowski, Alvin “Bud” Goraczkowski, Steven Goraczkowski, and Emanuel “Emil” Goraczkowski; and one sister, Nimfa E. Jordan.
