Terry was born April 23, 1942 in Blue Earth, the son of Wesley and Elaine (Kliendl) Classon. He attended school in Blue Earth, graduating in 1960. Shortly after that, he entered the US Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. On July 10, 1965 he married Sandra Irving. He attended Mankato Commercial College earning an accounting degree. Terry worked at Green Giant/Seneca and retired after 39 years as controller in 2005.
He was involved in the United Hospital District Board, Riverside Town & Country Club, American Legion, Angel Giving Tree and was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.
Terry loved sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Going to Texas for the winter months was a real joy. He was an avid golfer and member at Riverside Town & Country Club, winning multiple tournaments including six club championships. He shot a course record of 65 which stood for a number of years. Once the course closed for the winter, he was an exceptional bowler, being inducted into the Winnebago Area USBC Hall of Fame. His competitiveness made it almost impossible for family members or friends to win any board or card games he was involved in. His joy, love and friendship will be missed.
Terry is survived by his wife, Sandy; his three sons, Brian (Amanda) of Avon, Bradley (Andrea) of Faribault and Timothy of Mankato; grandsons, Devin and Tyler; siblings, Judy Tuttle, Dave Classon and Roger Classon; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
