Scott Charles Jagerson was born June 29, 1944 to Orin “Bud” and Violet (Tanager) Jagerson at the Buffalo Center, IA hospital. Scott’s father passed away when he was very young, and his mother (Violet) remarried Amil Haugen who he looked up to and regarded as a father. He grew up and attended school in Rake, IA finishing the 8th grade, which was when his life adventure began.
After spending time in California with relatives he ventured back to the area he had grew up in and meeting the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.
On March 20, 1965 Scott married the love of his life, Marlys Ann Gohr and the blizzard on the day of their marriage was the worse storm they had to endure through all those years together.
Together they raised their family of 4 children (Todd, Terry, Shannon and Jason) and considered family anyone that arrived at the door or sat at the supper table. It was said they never added family “one at a time” family was added in bunches. From the groups of friends each child brought to the house, or grandchildren in bunches. The Jagerson home was never a quiet place, but their home was a warm, welcoming and safe place for all that entered.
Scott, Marlys and family spent as much time together as they could while Scott was home from his “primary career” as an “over-the-road truck driver”. Time around Scott always involved work and fun from all the different jobs and projects he had going on at the same time. From that Scott took personal value in his “work” and from that his children took away the respect for effort and not being afraid to try. For that we are very proud of our father.
He drove truck for 40+ years pulling everything from flatbed to tanker to reefer to dry van to belly dump and anything else that could be pulled down the road. In his career he drove more than two million miles, saw each state in the Continental United States and could tell you the best route from “here to there or anywhere”.
Scott was never one to sit still and always wanted to make sure his family was taken care of and provided for before anything else. He was a very big hearted, hardworking man, always willing to help others out and never expected anything in return. Scott was not one to think poorly of others and always found the best side to every person and situation he encountered.
Left to cherish all these wonderful memories are his beloved wife Marlys, his four children; Todd (Joan) of Rosemount Mn. Terry (Laurie) of Elmore Mn, Shannon of Elmore Mn. and Jason (Shannon) of Robbinsdale Mn. Along with eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, four sisters, four brothers as well as many other extended family members and close friends.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, a sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three nephews and a niece.
