Russell Anderson

Russell Anderson, age 91, of Blue Earth, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Patton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

Russell Dean Anderson was born on June 15, 1933, to James and Myrtle (Peterson) Anderson in Elmore Township, Minnesota. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1954. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was deployed overseas to Japan. Upon returning, he moved back to Minnesota and worked as a truck driver for Hamm's Beer Company.

In 1958, he married Lois Lyon and lovingly embraced his role as a stepfather to Michael and Patrick Rorman. Together, Russell and Lois welcomed their son, James Anderson soon after. Russell managed the Legion in Blue Earth for over 20 years and became a dedicated member of the Honor Guard. In 2003, Russell and Lois insisted on providing daycare three days a week for their granddaughter, Maddie.

We are so grateful for the time we had with Russell and are at peace knowing that he can finally be reunited with Lois on the other side. We love you, Russell, now and forever. Thank you for touching our lives in so many ways. Rest in peace, and we will see you again someday.

Russell is survived by his son, James (Deborah) Anderson, and granddaughter, Madalyn Anderson, of Blue Earth, MN; his sister, Karen Ardnt, of Faribault, MN; and four step-granddaughters: Mysti Rorman Merrill of Benson, AZ; Jessica Rorman Orduno of Laguna Hills, CA; and Melissa Rorman of Taos, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Anderson; his wife, Lois Anderson; his brothers, Donnie and Marlin "Andy" Anderson; infant brother, Roger Anderson; and stepsons, Patrick and Michael Rorman.
