Ruby Alice Johnson

Ruby A. Johnson, age 93 formerly of Frost, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Frost with Pastor Aaron Evenson officiating. A time for visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.

Ruby was born on May 30, 1930 in Ledyard, Iowa to Loren and Alma (Stenzel) Kessel. She attended and graduated from Bricelyn High School. On May 15, 1951 Ruby married Harris Duane Johnson. Together the two raised 7 boys. Once the boys were older, Ruby worked as a CNA at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Ruby was always one to say what was on her mind. She was as straightforward as they come. Back in the day, she enjoyed gardening on the farm. Ruby loved quilting and watching the Minnesota Twins. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Douglas (Julie) of Worthington, Dennis (special friend, Susie) of Wall, SD, Donnis of Frost, Darius of Frost, and David (Darcy) of Surprise, AZ; brothers, Gaylan (Kay) Kessel of San Jose, CA, and Melvin “Mick” (Kay) Kessel of Great Falls, MT; 18 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; and adopted daughter, Cindy Klingbil, who helped Ruby with things the boys wouldn’t.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harris; her sons, Dallas and Donovan Johnson; her parents, Loren and Alma; her in-laws, Eddie and Minnie Johnson; and her siblings, Kenny, Mattie, Dorothy, and Donna.
