Richard Arnold Stindtman, 85, died January 19th, 2018, with his family by his side at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Funeral services for Richard “Dick” Stindtman will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Jan 24th at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service and on Tuesday, January 23rd from 5-7 pm also at Patton Funeral Home. Dick was born September 28th, 1932 in Mitchell, SD, the son of Arnold and Agnes (Soat) Stindtman. He attended school in Artesian, South Dakota and graduated in 1951. Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a lineman from 1952 - November of 1954. After returning from the Army he began working at Lampert Lumber in March of 1955, where he worked for 50 plus years. On October 19th, 1955 he married the love of his life, Verna Marie Baumgart. They were married by the Justice of the Peace. Throughout his life, he resided in several different locations including Salem, South Dakota from 1955 - 1957, Holland, Minnesota 1957 - 1960, Amboy Minnesota 1960 - 1969, before settling down in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Over the years he was an active member of the Snow Rovers as well as a member of the American Legion & VFW. When living in Amboy, Minnesota he was on the Amboy Fire Department. Dick was an avid snowmobiler, loved his dogs, being on the water was another activity that brought him joy and he even learned how to water ski at the age of 50. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and will always be remembered for his teasing and joking around with his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his spouse, Verna Stindtman of Blue Earth, son, Todd (Shar) Stindtman of Blue Earth, daughter, Tammy (Darryl) Swenson of Albert Lea, son, Troy (Michele) Stindtman of Blue Earth, brother, Robert Stindtman, sister, Joan Wyant , 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
