Ramona Amundson

Ramona Amundson, age 82 of Blue Earth passed away Tuesday June 29, 2021 at United Hospital in Blue Earth. A family memorial service will be held Friday July 9 at 11am at Patton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. A public visitation will be from 4-7pm on Thursday July 8 at Patton Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Dell Lutheran cemetery. Ramona Faye was born December 10, 1938 to Irven and Arvilla (Johnson) Sunno in Seely Township, MN. She grew up on the family farm in the Frost area. She and her high school sweetheart graduated in 1956 and later married the love of her life, Darwin “Pete” Amundson. Pete joined the Air Force and got stationed in New Mexico, so the newlyweds moved and started their family there with their daughter Rennie. Shortly after, Pete returned home to take over the family farm. They grew the family with 2 sons: Danny and Jerry. The couple then decided to get out of farming and take to the roads. They both hauled cattle across country together, sometimes Ramona would even drive. She also held jobs with the abstract office and the county auditor’s office for many years.

She was a very independent woman, having been widowed for over 30 years, she became the matriarch of the family. She was involved in WELCA and circle at her church, was on the St. Luke’s Auxiliary and executive board for several years. She enjoyed volunteering at the St. Luke’s coffee shop and traveling to far off places such as Jordan, Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, Austria and Egypt and had a knack for gardening. But what was most important and always a top priority, her family. She always made time for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always wanting to keep up with what they were involved in.

Left to cherish such wonderful memories are her children, Rennie Amundson of Delavan and Jerry (Kasta) Amundson of Blue Earth; eight grandchildren, Keith Amundson, Amy Benn, Alyson Lincoln, Ayrica Franke, Ryan Amundson, Laura Hanson, Makyah Amundson and Cooper Amundson; great-grandchildren, Ashton Lloyd, Kemper Amundson, Sadie Franke, Taylynn, Brynlee, Rylan and Rennick Amundson, McCoy, Isla, & Collins Hanson; daughter-in-law Diane Amundson, sisters-in-law Pat (Ray) Oswald, Kathy (Glenn) DeWitt and Linda Halverson; brother-in-law Don (Mavis) Amundson as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete, son Danny, brother Danny Lee Sunno, sister-in-law Ginny Amundson and brother-in-law Roger Halverson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to UHD Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
