Nyle Gordon Huston, age 80, of Blue Earth, passed away after a brief illness at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN on October 30, 2017. A Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, MN, with Rev. Doug Rokke presiding. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, November 2 at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Nyle was born in Blue Earth, MN on July 7, 1937, the son of Roy and Belle Huston. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1956. Nyle joined the Marine Corps in October of 1956 and was honorably discharged in October 1958. Nyle married Darlene Thompson in Blue Earth on April 4, 1959. He owned and operated a Phillips 66 gas station in Blue Earth for several years. The family then moved to Marshall, MN where he sold AAA Insurance. They returned to Blue Earth, where Nyle continued to work for AAA as a travel counselor. He started Huston's Tree Service in Blue Earth in 1973 and was later joined by his son, Jeff in the business. Nyle continued to work with his son in his business until the time of his death. His passions in life were his family, his business, hunting, trap shooting, and his furry friend, Woodee. He continued to trap shoot until a month ago and he was so pleased to win an Annie Oakley that day and beat his competitors! Nyle was a great outdoorsman. He was at one of his favorite places this summer, his shop, and spotted a great horned owl caught in a fence line; he rescued the owl and it is recovering at the MN Rapture Center. Nyle is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters, Laurie (Bohn) Oelke of Blue Earth, Sandy (Tracy) Bartels of Spirit Lake, IA ; son, Jeff (Sharlet) Huston of Apple Valley, MN; 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 5 great-step grandchildren and a large extended family and friends. Nyle is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Belle Huston; two brothers, Armon and Louis Huston; and mother and father-in-law, Gaylord and Alice Thompson.
