Maurice “Doc” Elmore, 78 of Blue Earth passed away October 18, 2018 at the United Hospital District. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 27, 11AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday October 26 at Patton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Maurice Dean Elmore was born November 30, 1939 to Oliver and Alice (Siep) Elmore in Blue Earth, MN. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school.
He enlisted in the Army and worked as a mechanic, serving for three years. After returning home, he married Margie Laue on September 25, 1965 and started a family.
Doc began working for a farmer before starting full time as a mechanic for Kipper International and then with Detke-Morbac for 32 years from where he retired August 15, 2001. He enjoyed wood working as well as hobby farming, raising sheep and spending time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margie; sons, Mark (Bunny), Marlin and Meldon (Sherry); daughter, Marcie (Paul Scharbach) Elmore; grandson, Jesse; 3 step grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren; brother, LaVerne, sisters; Lorraine Chaffee, Elaine Elmore, Beverly Alfson, Joyce (Leon) Farrow and Janice DeBoer, special “adopted granddaughters”; Nora and Carla Leyva as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Doc in death are his parents, in-laws; Fred and Lotty Laue, brothers; Donnie (Eldora), Mervin (Shirley), sister; Charlotte (Gerald) Robb, sister-in-law; Darlene Elmore, niece; Leanne Frank and nephews; Doyle Laue and Michael Alfson.
