Marlys Darnell

Marlys Darnell, age 87, formerly of Elmore passed away Saturday December 3, 2022 at Clark's Crossing in Wells. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday December 8 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth with Rev. Russ Jacobsen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore.

Marlys A. Krosch was born August 1, 1935, the daughter of Maynard and Mabel (Pirsig) Krosch. She grew up in the Grant, IA area where she also attended school. After graduating high school she went on to attend beauty school in Mason City, IA. In 1954 she built and operated her own beauty shop in Ledyard, IA until she retired in 1971.

On December 19, 1970 she married Duane Darnell at the Methodist Church in Elmore. Together they farmed and she was Duane’s “Best hired hand”. She was an animal lover and raised many sheep. She had many hobbies and activities that kept her busy.

Marlys is survived by her sister-in-law Karen Gilbertson of Ledyard, cousin Mike Krosch of Elmore, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and many other extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Merlin (Marilyn) Krosch, Duane’s parents and brother-in-law Jon Gilbertson.
