Marjie Peterson, age 97, of Blue Earth, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Heartland- Parker Oaks in Winnebago. A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld and full military honors. Visitation one hour prior AT THE CEMETERY. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that masks be worn by all in attendance. Patton Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.PattonFH.com Marjie Lillian (Boettcher) Peterson was born June 10th, 1924 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to John and Mabel (Rajewsky) Boettcher. She was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith. After graduating from Blue Earth High School, Marjie rode the train from Marna to Mason City to attend business school. After finishing her schooling, she worked in Fairmont, MN at Railway Motors. In 1943, she chose to enlist in the US Navy with the WAVES. She served in Washington, D.C. as a communication specialist during World War II. She was very proud to serve her country and always remained patriotic. Following her discharge, she was united in marriage to Palmer Peterson. They made their home in rural Blue Earth, where they raised 3 children: Kathleen, Anton, and Timothy. She resided on the farm for 62 years. She enjoyed her garden, baking and entertaining family. Marjie is survived by her children; Kathleen (Keith) Kottke, Anton Peterson, and Timothy (Nancy) Peterson; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jud), Christopher (Tami), Philip (Reneya), Roseann, Erika, Ryne (Morgan) and Athena; 9 great grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah, Reed, Andrew, Antonio, Mavrik, Devyn and Ravyn.; Sisters, Ruth Hanke, Harriet Skogen and Corrine Schreiber; Sisters-in-law, Arlene Peterson, Florence Peterson, and Diane Schaper; many other relatives and friends. Marjie is preceded in death by her parents John and Mabel Boettcher; husband, Palmer; brother, Donald Boettcher; sister, Doris Fish and daughter-in-law, Carol Peterson.
