Marian Elizabeth (Sattre) Kark, age 100 of Blue Earth, MN, passed away on March 22, 2024 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, April 22, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Jeanette Bidne officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com
Marian was born in Chinook, MT on August 27, 1923, the daughter of Karl Orlano (K.O.) Sattre and R. Ovidia (Berg) Sattre. She had two sisters, Vi Anne and Shirley. Marian grew up in Evansville and Blue Earth, MN. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1941 as the valedictorian of her class and attended St. Olaf College, graduating in 1945. On August 13, 1945, Marian married Donald Kark, who had just returned from Europe serving in WWII as a P-47 pilot with the U.S. Army 9th Air Force.
Marian and Don made their home in Blue Earth, raising their two children Karelyn and David. After their children were grown, Marian and Don spent their summers over the years at their homes in northern Minnesota on Ossawinnamakee and Whitefish lakes. Marian enjoyed hosting family up at the lake. Marian and Don spent their winters in Florida, eventually becoming residents of Ft. Myers, FL in 1988. They returned to Blue Earth in 2014.
Marian lived a full life, caring for her family and socializing with her friends. Some of her favorite past-times were crocheting, Bridge Club, and playing golf. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth as well as Peace Lutheran Church in Ft. Myers, FL. Marian loved traveling and together with Don enjoyed countless trips throughout the U.S. and overseas. They had the pleasure of visiting all seven continents.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don of 71 years; sisters Vi Anne Christensen and Shirley (Arthur) Kark; father- and mother-in-law Emil and Flora Kark; sisters-in-law Lorene (DeVere) Clark and Beverly (Darrel) Nave; and brother-in-law Arthur (Shirley) Kark.
Marian is survived by her daughter Karelyn Kark Lacher of Blue Earth, MN and her son David Kark of Hastings, MN; grandchildren Rachel Anderson, Kara Davis, Alyssa Kark (Andrea Zaramella), and Nathan (Krista) Kark; great-grandchildren Riley Anderson, Elijah and Isaiah Davis, and Ayden Zaramella; brothers-in-law Bob (Susan) Kark and Bud (LaVonne) Kark; and many nieces and nephews.
Marian’s family was a very important part of her life. She was a generous and kind-hearted woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
