Larry Pingel, age 86 of Ledyard passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11am on Friday, February 24, 2023 at United Methodist Church in Elmore. A time for visitation will be held on Thursday at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth from 5-7pm and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard.
Larry was born on September 12, 1936 in Ledyard to Cecil and Ida (Haugen) Pingel. He graduated from Ledyard High School in 1955. After graduating, Larry served in the United States Army. He served in Korea as a cook and a phlebotomist. Larry was honorably discharged in 1958. After his time in the service, Larry moved home and began farming with his father and brother, Maurice. On June 23, 1973, at Elmore United Methodist Church, Larry married the love of his life, Judy Nagel. Together the couple settled on the farm and began raising their family.
Larry was a member of United Methodist Church in Elmore and the Elmore American Legion. He enjoyed dancing, attending tractor pulls, and anything John Deere. Larry was a wonderful husband and father. One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandpa. He loved spending time with his grandkids and attending all the sporting events he could – even if just watching softball games from his pickup truck.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy; his three children, Leroy Pingel of Stanhope, Iowa, Nicole (David) Streuber of Swea City, and Rochelle (Jonathon) Ziegler of Ledyard; sister, Linda (Dennis) Hill of Kiester; grandchildren, Benjamin and Elizabeth Streuber; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Maurice Pingel.
