John D. Lacher, age 76 of Blue Earth, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth from 5-7pm.
John was born on August 30, 1945 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Joseph and LaVawn (Cook) Lacher. John and his family moved from Heron Lake to Blue Earth in 1956, and he graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1963. Post-high school, John married Karelyn Kark in 1969 and they moved to Omaha, NE. where John worked for American Beef Packers and later owned and operated his own beef-brokerage business. While living in Omaha and working, John earned a degree in Business from Bellevue University. He and Karelyn had two children together, Rachel and Kara. John and his family moved back to Blue Earth after 12 years in Omaha and he worked in sales for Blue Earth Rendering Plant. John and Karelyn later divorced, and John remarried Debra Wickersham. John and Deb were married on October 10, 1992 in Blue Earth. The couple joined their families and together shared six children. John went on to work at Tafco in sales for over 20 years.
Many will remember John for his sarcasm, quick wit, and joke-telling. He was an avid golfer and a member at Riverside Town & Country Club, rarely missing a Thursday on the course. He also enjoyed hunting and shuffleboard in his younger years, as well as card games, darts, and Fantasy Football with his buddies. John always looked forward to trips with the guys up north to the lake and to Nebraska Cornhusker football games. He also enjoyed winter getaways with Deb to warmer climates such as Mexico, Florida, Arizona, and Texas. John liked getting together with family and friends out on the deck, having cocktails and talking smack. Most of all, John loved his family and cherished time spent with them.
John is survived by his wife, Deb; children, Rachel Anderson of Blue Earth, Kara Davis of Fort Worth, Texas, Mandra (Jon) McCue of Edina, Justin (Jen) Pfaffinger of Lakeville, Emily Lea (fiancé Ross Kiehne) of Chatfield, and Jillian Pfaffinger of Austin, Texas; brothers, Mike (Maria) Lacher of Humble, Texas and Dan (Sue) Lacher of Bismarck, North Dakota; brother-in-law, Wayne Johnson of Lindstrom; grandchildren, Elijah and Isaiah Davis, Riley Anderson, Madison and Brooks Lea, Meredith and Harrison McCue, and Saoirse Pfaffinger; mother-in-law, Nadine Wickersham; brother-in-law, Mark (Sheila) Wickersham; and many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Bill Wickersham; siblings, Mary Johnson and Doug Lacher; and son-in-law, Yankten Anderson.
