Joanne H. Oswald

Joanne Helen Oswald, age 86 of Frost, died peacefully at her home in Frost on Saturday, June 25, 2022. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 1, 2022 at United Lutheran Church in Frost. A time for visitation will be held from 9:30am-11am, prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in the United Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Joanne was born on November 17, 1935 on a farm near Dell, Minnesota to Theodore and Agnes (Mondahl) Thompson. She attended country elementary school and Frost High School. Shortly after graduation, Jo married Ronald D. Oswald, during a violent thunderstorm, on June 7, 1953.

When Jo wasn’t busy with all the tasks of being a farmer’s wife, homemaker and mother, she enjoyed reading and music. Playing the piano was a favorite pastime. Jo also sang in choir, both at school and in church for many years. She was a faithful member of United Lutheran Church in Frost. She enjoyed fishing with Ronnie and going to Twins’ games. When her children left home, Jo discovered a new activity–golf! She became passionate about it and won many club championships, both in Minnesota and their winter home in Arizona.

Joanne is survived by daughter, Nolie (Kim) Kapplinger and their children, Jill (Ty) Huber, Jenny (Tyler) Clementson and Jamie (Kara) Kapplinger; son, Randy (Sue) Oswald and their daughter, Sheena Oswald (Mike Arons), and their daughter-in-law, Anna Oswald (fiance’ David Birkey); great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Ida Huber, Annie, Brynn and Malena Clementson, Vera, Syneva and Leieta Kapplinger, Ava and Rex Oswald, and Griffin and Hayes Arons; brothers Arden (Jeanette) and Ronnie Thompson; sisters-in-law Myrna, Sandy, and Gloria Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; two infant grandchildren, Ryan Dale and Ria Jeanne Oswald; grandson, Reece Oswald; her parents; sister Barbara; brothers Thomas, Dennis and Neil; sister-in-law Kathy Thompson; and two nieces.
