Joanne Kay Boettcher

Joanne Kay Boettcher, 75, passed away Friday, October 20th at 8:30 pm in her home surrounded by her loving family.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24th at Patton Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25th, 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN. Joanne was born on April 18, 1942 to Ronald and Marian (Anderson) Hanson in Blue Earth, MN.  She attended school in Blue Earth until she married Rodger Victor Boettcher on March 22, 1958. She was very busy with the four children she had within four years of each other.  As the children grew, she took on a job at the local grocery store in Elmore before becoming the co-owner of Ro-Jo Jeans with Rodger.  When that adventure ended, she worked for Telex in Blue Earth until she retired. Joanne loved being involved with her family.  She was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid and an enthusiastic member of a monthly birthday club.  She volunteered her time at St. Luke’s nursing home by visiting residents and helping in the gift shop.  Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, reading, and doing puzzles.  However, the thing she enjoyed most was having family, grandchildren and great grandchildren around.  Holidays were her favorite time celebrating with family in her home. She prided herself on getting the neighbors acquainted with one another.  She started a regular monthly coffee gathering in her home to keep everyone connected.  Her big front porch was always “open” for visitors to stop and chat.  Joanne is preceded in death by her husband Rodger of 44 years; sisters Judy Bussinger and Nancy Sahr; sister-in-law Avis Boettcher, brothers-in-law Bob Tischer and Wayne Boettcher; son-in-law Jerry Petersen, parents Ronald and Marian Hanson, and father-in-law/mother-in-law Walter and Malinda (Ehrich) Boettcher. She is survived by her loving significant other, Roger Uecker of Blue Earth, MN; children Tammy Annen and her friend John Anderson of Mankato, MN, DeeAnn (Jim) Eickhoff of Chanhassen, MN, Scott (Tamra) Boettcher of Columbus, NE, Keith (Diane) Boettcher of Euless, TX; nine grandchildren: Ryan Johnson, Jessica Boettcher, Catie (Brock) Tidstrom, Beth (Seth) Miller, Alexei Boettcher (fiancé Parker Rosenthal), Erin Boettcher, Adam Eickhoff, Seth Boettcher, and Sarah Boettcher; three great grandchildren: Eli Hataway, Corbyn Tidstrom and Landry Tidstrom; sisters Barb Tischer and Becky (Bob) Spencer, brothers Bill (Jeanette) Hanson, Dennis (Tracy) Hanson, and Chuck Hanson; brothers-in-law Mike Bussinger, Elwood Sahr, and Vernon Boettcher; sister-in-law Pat (Boettcher) Prechel.
