Jean (Dickman) Besendorf was born on May 22, 1958 in Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of E. James and Joanne (Reifsteck) Dickman. She grew up on the family farm, where she helped with chores, played away the days, and spent time with her family. Jean attended Catholic grade school and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1976. After high school, she attended Winona State University. Jean held many jobs throughout her life. Jean helped her mother at the golf course, worked at the Green Giant Canteen, as a cashier at Red Owl, and finally, as a cook at the Country Kitchen in Blue Earth. She worked at Country Kitchen for 20 years prior to her official retirement because of health reasons. Jean married Douglas Besendorf on March 8, 1980. They lived in Bricelyn before settling in Frost, MN. She gave birth to her first child, Stephanie Ruth, on April 20, 1984 and then again on September 18, 1986 to Jennifer Joanne. Jean was very active in her church. She served on the church council, was W.E.L.C.A. President, financial secretary, and church secretary for a number of years. Jean was a devoted Vikings and Twins fan and spent many evenings and afternoons eating popcorn and yelling, “GO GO!” at the TV. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, reading her romance novels, and spending time with her “Circle” of friends. Jean was an avid sewer and made many quilts. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whether up north fishing or just at home together.
