James Luther Laue, age 83, was called to eternal rest by his Heavenly father at Heartland Senior Living, Truman, Mn., on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Jim was born the eldest child of Adolph and Mary (Hardinger) Laue on December 13, 1937.
He attended the 1 room schoolhouse near his rural Elmore home and graduated from the 8th grade. He was baptized, confirmed, and raised in the Lutheran faith.
Jim grew to be an honest, hardworking man who enjoyed helping his neighbors. He faithfully cared for his parents until their deaths in 1978 and 1992. Jim’s life work included farming, tiling with his father, and welding at TAFCO in Blue Earth.
Jim enjoyed going to old machinery shows, threshing shows, and eating out at Hardee’s. He also loved any kind of candy, but especially chocolate candy! In his later years, he rediscovered a hobby he had enjoyed in his youth: jigsaw puzzles. In his years at the nursing home, he put together dozens of these puzzles. He could usually be found in the day room working on a puzzle. He proudly showed them to anyone who stopped by his table.
Immediate survivors include his brother, Harry, of Colton, South Dakota, his sister, Janet Shinsky of Fairmont, Minnesota, and his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Steve Yetter of Marshfield, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 5 nephews and many extended family members.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers in infancy, Edward and Evert Laue, his sister-in-law, Judy Laue, and brother-in-law, Joseph Shinsky, as well as many aunts and uncles.
A service celebrating Jim’s homegoing will be held at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 1pm. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 12pm. Pastor Michael Klatt of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore.
Because of the ongoing pandemic, masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
If desired, memorials may be directed to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center, St. Louis, MO 63141.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Johnson, Hospice, the staff of Heartland Senior Living, and United Hospital of Blue Earth for their excellent care.
Well done, thou good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25:23)
