Harry Werner, 92 of Blue Earth passed away Tuesday May 7, 2019 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday May 11, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Pastor Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation will be Friday 5-7pm at Patton Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
Harry Albert Werner was born September 6, 1926 in Delavan, Minnesota, to Albert Gustav and Christina Barbara (Nagel) Werner. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Harry completed school through 8th grade and worked on the family farm. Harry entered the US Navy in 1945 where he was at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and in Japan when they signed the treaty. He was a Seaman First Class when he was honorably discharged in 1946. After that, he attended the Votech School in Winnebago for Agriculture.
On June 6, 1948, Harry was united in Marriage to Marian Irma Arndt at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and they were blessed with four children. Harry farmed and did construction prior to being a salesman at Don's Fleet Supply for 52 years, retiring in 2014. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and former Elder.
Harry is survived by his wife, Marian, of Blue Earth; son, Leon (Judy) Werner of Marshall; daughter, LeAnn Hendrickson of Blue Earth; daughter, Darlene (Tom) Macklin of Worthington; son Dennis (LeAnn) Werner of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Robert (Janet) Werner of Blue Earth; brother, Arlo (Romayne) Werner of Charlotte, NC; Nine Grandchildren: Sarah (Ted) Martin, Stacy (Mark) Huisman, Casey (Amber) Werner, Brady (Jericka) Lyon, Kristin (Travis) Woodwick, Tara (Patrick) Irlbeck, Morgan (special friend Christopher) Werner, Noah Werner and Kylie Werner; and thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Lauren Martin, Samuel Martin, Mitchell (Chelsea) Huisman, Hanna (fiance Tommy) Huisman, Cayden Werner, Chase Werner, Colton Werner, Kynlee Lyon, Oaklyn Lyon, Kuyper Lyon, Aubrey Woodwick, Leila Woodwick and Hazel Woodwick. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Christina; brothers Frederick "Fritz" Werner and Harlan Werner; sisters, Marian Rippentrop, Thelma Schewe and Marlys Werner; infant sister Selma Werner; and son-in-law Bryon Hendrickson.
