Gloria J Eichhorn, age 78, of rural Elmore, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Elmore, with Pastor Michael Klatt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore.
Gloria Jean was born on May 31, 1943 on the family farm in rural Ledyard to Willis and Ora (Cassem) Pingel. She graduated from Ledyard High School and attended college classes to become a beautician. Gloria worked as a hairdresser, drove bus, and several other small jobs. Her main job throughout her life was a home maker. On October 19, 1963 Gloria married Gary Eichhorn at Bethany Evangelical & Reformed Church in Ledyard. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Gail.
Gloria was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and performed for the church choir and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, traveling, and spending time at home with her family. Gloria had a love for animals and was a natural caretaker. She was kind, caring, giving, and willing to help anyone in need.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Gary; daughter, Gail of Elmore; brother, Otto (Dorothy) Pingel of Swea City; sisters, Marion Meyer of Buffalo Center and Joyce (Wayne) Risk of Elmore; brother-in-law, Roger Meyer of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ardella Oldenburg and Janette Meyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Faribault County Humane Society and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
