Dorothy “Dottie” Lawson age of 90, formerly of Winnebago, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Pillars Senior Living in Mankato. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. A time for visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Amboy at a later date.
Dorothy Ann was born on August 13, 1934 in Morris, MN to Winslow and Eda (Schaefer) Quackenbush. She attended Chokio High School. Dottie went on to attend college at Morehead State. Her first teaching job was at Albert Lea where she taught 1st grade. Where she met Bob Lawson roller skating. She would later continue her college education to get her Bachelor's degree at Mankato State. She taught 2nd grade in Winnebago for 30 years.
On June 17, 1956, Dottie married Robert Lawson. The couple would later separate, but they were blessed with one daughter, Kay.
Dottie enjoyed helping build her first home with Bob then taking on a historical marker house in the country and renovating it and decorating it especially for Christmas. She volunteers for many different organizations: St. Lukes, Hospital, taxes and Beam (Blue Earth Area Mentors), and playing in the bell choir. She loved to play the piano. She had enjoyed many travels all over the world with her good friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kay (Scott) Ashley of Garden City; and granddog Maggie. Sister’s Mary Anderson, Levida Hulett, Caroline Scheldorf, Elaine Olson, Winona “Noni” Robnett. Sister in laws Patricia Quackenbush, Mary Quackenbush. Brother in law Ralph Runion. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dottie is preceded in death by her parents Winslow (Eda) Quackenbush, Brother’s Harvey, Don and Robert (Bobby) Quackenbush. Sisters: Arlene Vieth, Lois Runion. Brother in laws: George Vieth, Richard Anderson, Robert Hulett, Delvin Scheldorf, Roger Olson, Hal Hammond, Donald Robnett. Plus some precious nephews and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratidue to the staff at Pillars Senior Living and also Moments Hospice.
