David Thrond, 63 of Blue Earth passed away Saturday November 16, 2019 at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be Monday November 25 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Kiester at 11am with Pasot Robert Stover officiating. Visitation will be Sunday November 24 from 5-7pm at Patton Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery Northwood, IA.
David Scott Thrond was born on October 25, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Arnold and Beverly (Peterson) Thrond. He was baptized into the Christian faith at Emmons Lutheran Church. He attended school in Kiester, graduating in 1975. Throughout his school years he was active in wrestling, football, 4-H, and FFA. He was proud to be the son of a farmer. David was also proud of the years he farmed and the cows he raised.
He was married to Julie Meyer from 1985 to 2014. David spent his adult life in the trucking business. He worked as an owner/operator, driver, and for a short while, as a freight coordinator for C.H. Robinson. David met his love, Rodica Mureson in Italy. They married on July 1, 2015 in Nago-Torbole, Italy. David enjoyed traveling and meeting Rodica’s family. Together, the couple traveled through Italy, Romania, and honeymooned in Austria. Rodica was dedicated to taking care of David during his illnesses over the last years of his life. David was very thankful and proud to have Rodica as his co-pilot during their years together.
David is survived by his wife, Rodica; father, Arnold (Darlene) Thrond of Blue Earth; brothers, Bruce (Paty) of Emmons, Paul (Jessica) of Licking, MO, Steve (Mary) of Walters, and Randy (Tina) of Kiester; nieces, Elizabeth (Jon) Cisar, Erin (Matt) Sweet, Casey Thrond, Ashley (Mark) Sinniah, and Lauren (Cody) Nelson; mother-in-law, Viorica Banutiu; brother-in-law, Dorel (Helen) Banutiu, and their children, Alex and Lori; sister-in-law Simona Banutiu and her children Robert and Izabella; and many more relatives and close friends.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Thrond; maternal grandparents, Dan and Luella Peterson; paternal grandparents, Anders and Emma Thrond; and father-in-law, Darel Banutiu.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Patton Funeral Home in David’s name to help alleviate costs would be greatly appreciated.
