David Frank

David Everett Frank, age 82, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 4, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a 13-year battle with Parkinsons. Visitation will be Thursday, August 10, 2023, 5:00-7:00pm at Patton Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, 2pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church

Dave was born March 15, 1941, in Blue Earth, MN, to Everett and Vera (Belter) Frank – he the youngest of seven siblings. He enjoyed wrestling in high school and was State Champ in 1959. He graduated from Blue Earth High School and briefly attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. After that, he continued his wrestling career at Bemidji State College and placed in NAIA tournaments. He served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968.

He married Kathryn Tellefson on June 14, 1969, and they had four children: Kristen, Jared, Aaron, and Ryan.

He was a partner in the family grain elevator business in Blue Earth, Frank Brothers, Inc., until they sold it in 1986. Elected to the office of Faribault County Treasurer in 1986, he worked in that position until his retirement in 2008.

A lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN, he was baptized on April 27, 1941 and confirmed on May 29, 1965. For many years, he actively served in various capacities, including elder, trustee, and education board. He was a member of the American Legion, Blue Earth Lion’s Club, and Blue Earth Area Wrestling Boosters.

He enjoyed golfing, tennis, boating, his retirement card club, spending time with family, and watching children and grandchildren in their many activities.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn (Kathy); daughter Kristen (Dave) of Sioux Falls, SD, and three sons; Jared (Julie) Frank of Sioux Falls, SD, Aaron (Stacy) Frank of Blue Earth, and Ryan (Elaina) Frank of Lakeville; also, grandchildren Nate and Alice Herbst; Eli and Tyler Frank; Nick, Kale, and Carter Frank; and Adalyn Frank and Cayden Cahoon; his sister Ruth Falkenberg of San Rafael, CA; sisters-in-law Ramona Tellefson of Hawley, MN and Ann Bruellman of Excelsior, MN; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Vera; brothers Leon and Alvin; sisters Betty Buffie, Norma Lange, and Patricia Kaplinger; and brothers-in-law Ernie Buffie, Dale Lange, Richard Falkenberg, Sam Kaplinger, Roger Bruellment, and Paul Tellefson.
