Charlotte Ordeanne Espeland was born to Joseph and Hannah (Johnson) Espeland on October 31, 1924 in Rake, IA. She was one of 8 children. She grew up and attended school in Rake until her family moved to Winnebago. It was there that she met Amos Olson. They were married May 25, 1946 in Blue Earth. Charlotte was a housekeeper for many families in the Blue Earth area. She took pride in cleanliness, especially clean windows and generally keeping things in order. She was often the planner of events, such as family reunions and church affairs. Her daily life was steeped in tradition. One tradition she has passed to her loved ones, is baking Christmas cookies and sharing with her neighbors, family and friends. Charlotte devoted much time to embroidery and stenciling towels and gifts for others. She was also an avid gardener; allowing her ample food to cook for others and canning. In her later years, Charlotte could be found active in the Trinity Lutheran Ladies group or helping at the church food stand at the fair. She also enjoyed her time with the members of the Verona Township chat and sew group. Charlotte loved her family, her church and her community. Her legacy will not be forgotten.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Doug) Horn of Brooklyn Park; son Darwin (Sue) Olson of Winnebago; grandchildren, Heidi (Ryan) Quist, Anna (Ian) Bents, Jessica Horn and Jennifer (Casey) Gode; great-grandchildren, Shantel, Ashlyn, Carter, Ava, Owen and Easton; best friend for life, Fran Ingebritson; also survived by other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Amos and 5 years old daughter, Cheryl (in 1952), and all of her 7 siblings.
