Charles George Baker was born on October 15, 1937 to Charles Clayton and Florence (Tenny) Baker in Minneapolis. He attended Hopkins schools before graduating from Vocational High School in Minneapolis. He then served a 4-year apprenticeship with Hopkins Wood Products and became a journeymen cabinet maker. In 1962, he married Barbara Hovland of Bricelyn, MN. They built a house in Excelsior, MN where Charles began the Baker Cabinets Business. He farmed with family since 1970 near Frost, MN while continuing to build kitchen cabinets for area customers. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Wayne Baker of Frost, daughter Laurie (Dan) McNeile, of Bloomington, Illinois, son Daniel (Karina) Baker of Alexandria, daughter Nancy Jo Baker of Burnsville; two grandchildren, Caleb and Marissa Baker of Alexandria; and nephew Chris Baker of Georgia. He loved working hard, being outside driving the tractor or the lawn mower, and working on collector cars. He is now at peace. A service will be held at Crystal Lake Chapel, 3816 Penn Ave N, in Minneapolis next week with burial in the family plot.
