Cary Elizabeth Taylor

Cary Elizabeth (Bruvold) Taylor 102 of Blue Earth died Thursday October 18, 2018 at United Hospital in Blue Earth, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be 11:00am Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Brickzin officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.pattonfh.com

Cary was born December 9, 1915 to Ole and Barbara (Hendriksen) Bruvold on the family farm near Bricelyn, MN. She attended Homedahl Country School near the farm and high school in Rake, IA and Blue Earth. After high school, she attended Normal School in Blue Earth where she then went on to teach in country schools near Bricelyn and Elmore.

Cary was united in marriage to Roy Taylor on December 28, 1939 at the South Blue Earth Lutheran Church near Bricelyn. They farmed near Bricelyn for a couple of years and then purchased the Taylor family farm northeast of Elmore where they raised their family and farmed until they retired in 1980, moving to Elmore.

Cary was a faithful member of the Elmore United Methodist Church where she enjoyed many friendships and was active in her circle and UMW.

Roy died in 2008, a year later Cary moved to Southview Estates in Blue Earth, later moving to Friendship Court. She enjoyed making new friends, spending time with old friends, playing cards, having coffee and attending chapel services.

Cary loved to bake cookies and was well known for her angel food cakes that were always made from scratch. She enjoyed sharing her baked goods with family and friends and would often deliver plates of her cookies to the residents at St. Luke’s. Cary will be remembered by her family and friends for her compassion, generosity and her indomitable spirit.

Left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters, Kathleen (Jerrald) Lloyd of Fairmont, Doris (Mark) Olson of Bloomington; son,  Neil (Mary Jane) Taylor of Blue Earth; sister Margaret Larson of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren David (Mia) Olson, Jason Lloyd, James (Robynn) Lloyd, Eric Olson, Mary Lloyd, Gregory (Kathleen) Olson, Johnathan (Melissa) Lloyd and Daniel (Janelle) Olson; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Cary was preceded in death by her husband Roy, sisters Marianne Doyle, Dorothy Sabin, and Virginia Elquist, granddaughter Karen Olson, one great-great granddaughter Amelia, and her parents Ole and Barbara Bruvold.

Cary chose to write her own obituary.
