Carroll Dean Elwood, 79, of Blue Earth, passed away at Parkview Care Center of Wells, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2PM on Monday, June 25 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St, with Rev. Vic Vriesen presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore. Carroll was born on July2, 1938 to Homer and Neoma (Berhow) Elwood in Buffalo Center, IA. He graduated from high school in Buffalo Center in 1956 and then attended U.S. Trade School in Kansas City, MO. Carroll enlisted in the United States Army in December of 1956. In the army Carroll became a helicopter and fixed wing aircraft mechanic. While stationed in Germany, he became a Military Police Officer for four years before his discharge in 1963. Carroll married Marlys Ann Teems on June 1, 1963. They settled in Blue Earth in 1965 after Carroll accepted a position as a field mechanic with Green Giant. Carroll retired as a Evening shop foreman in June of 2000. During harvest, Carroll worked as a farm hand for Eldon Beenken every year since 1990. Carroll is survived by his daughter, Sherrie (Richard) Nowak; grandsons, Thane (Christine Henke), Tanner (Kayla Hatfield); great-granddaughter, Layla Elizabeth; sisters, Elaine Wicks, Patricia (Arlin) Thorson; brother, Galen (Cindy) Elwood; sister-in-law, Colleen Danger; and special friend, Sherryl Andrews and her family; many other loving relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Marlys; parents; sister, Janice (Rick) Hixson; brothers, Keith (Therese) Elwood, Arlan (Mary) Elwood, Duane Elwood.
