Carol McGowen

Carol Jean McGowen went to heaven on December 7, 2024 while at UHD Hospital in Blue Earth. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday January 4 at 1:00 visitation 1 hour before at Cornerstone Evangelical Church, Blue Earth, MN.

Carol was born April 30, 1935 to parents, Henry (Carl) and Bernice Knighton in Chicago IL. She and her parents and brother Dale moved to Albuquerque, NM then to California for a short time and back to Albuquerque where she graduated from high school in 1953. In August of that year she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald McGowen Sr. They had 2 sons, Ronald, Jr and Randal. After living in Albuquerque for several years the family moved to Denver. Carol worked as a bookkeeper in their business, Motor Machine and Supply, for many years. In later years, she lived in Arizona, Minnesota, New Mexico and Colorado at different times.

Carol enjoyed traveling and had adventures to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, China, Europe, Great Britain. She also enjoyed decorating, shopping, playing Mexican train dominoes, spending time with friends, attending Christian Women’s group and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carol is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Bernice, and her brother Dale.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Jr. (Linda) McGowen and Randal (Merry) McGowen, grandchildren, Aaron (Claire Anderson) McGowen, Andrew McGowen, Amanda McGowen, Ashley (Chris) Scherbarth, Micah (Katie) McGowen, Jonathan (Kristin) McGowen, Kayla Ollila. 14 great grandchildren, Madison, Lexi, Payton, Cora, Avalyn, Declan, Parker, Jamison, Mercedes, Anders, Cade, Khloe, Liam, Ryken. Sister-in-law Linda Knighton, nephews Brian (Lisa) Knighton, Joshua and Jacob, nephew Kevin Knighton and cousin Marilyn Cassels.
