Berdette Teigland, age 91 of Blue Earth passed away Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A memorial service will be held Thursday October 31 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Jeanette Bidne officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday October 30 at Patton Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Berdette Henry Teigland was born March 19, 1928 on the family farm near Delavan, MN the son of Lewis and Minnie (Oberdick) Teigland. He was baptized, confirmed and married at the Lutheran Church in Delavan. He attended school in Delavan and graduated with the class of 1947.
He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In October of 1950 he started work at the Blue Earth Farmers Elevator and was employed there for 39 years. On March 15, 1952 he married Julienne Weyhrauch.
Berdette enjoyed pitching horse shoes, playing cards and going to auctions. He was a regular at McDonalds coffee hour exchanging stories. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and a member of the American Legion Post 89.
He is survived by his loving wife Julienne; four daughters, Brenda (Kenneth) Gholson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Arla Teigland of Blue Earth, Cary (Paul) Albers of St. Peter and Denise (David) Pfaffinger of Blue Earth; eight grandchildren, Jessica McKenna (Stephen Adkins), Allan (Jennifer) Humphrey, Jeffrey (Emily) Pfaffinger, Rachel (Dusty) Cole, Scott, Keli, Justin and Jeffrey Gholson, ten great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mildred Walker as well as other extended family and close friends.
Berdette is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Iona and Arleen, brothers James Teigland, Loren (Bud) Teigland and his twin brother, Herb Teigland; sisters-in-law, Betty Malmanger and Lillian Hanna and brothers-in-law Earl Weyhrauch and Wesley Weyhrauch.
