It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the passing of Allen Dean Maloney, a beloved husband, friend, and vibrant member of the Blue Earth community. Al left us on January 21, 2025, with his loving family by his side, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and a generous spirit. Born on May 6, 1951, in Fairmont, MN, to Ronald and Margie (Hamilton) Maloney, Al graduated from Madelia High School in 1970 and served with pride in the Army National Guard for six years. After working alongside his father at Ron's Electric Motor Repair, he proudly took over the family business, continuing a legacy built on hard work and dedication. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his unwavering love for his wife, Janet. Together, they cherished their mornings at Perkins, enjoyed leisurely motorcycle rides, and created countless memories with family and friends. An Irishman at heart, Al was equally passionate about his country, serving as the Legion Commander for a short time but a long-time member. His big heart and charitable nature shone through in his support of various local charities, school functions and clubs. He was a man of strong faith, but also a jokester, filling every room he entered with laughter and stories that could hold anyone’s attention. There was never a dull moment with Al around!
Left to cherish such wonderful memories; his wife Janet, sons Paul (John) Maloney of Mankato, John (Caris) Maloney of Owatonna and their daughter Cera, daughter Marcy Maloney and her children Desiree and Lily. Step-son Dustin (Molly) Olson of Blue Earth and their children Logan, Addison (Ethan) and Brynlee, stepdaughter Kimberly (Andrew) Olson of Winnebago and their children, Hailey (Grady), Layron and Audrey Ulrich. Mother-in-law Jeanette Hanson as well as many in (out)-laws aka the peanut gallery, extended family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Maloney, brother Arlen Maloney, father-in-law Bill Hanson and many others gone too soon. We invite everyone who knew and loved Allen to join us in celebrating his life on January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, MN. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Sunday January 26 at Patton Funeral Home. Al would have wanted us to remember him with joy, sharing stories, laughter, and love.
