Marvis Stensland

Marvis Ann Hines was born January 5, 1929 in Guckeen, Mn to Robert and Lorena Hines.She was baptized in January of 1929 and confirmed on March 21, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN. She graduated from Blue Earth High School on May 28th, 1946.On July 12th, 1947, she married Orville Stensland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.Together they raised four children, Sharon Jahnke (Mike) of Waverly, Iowa, Rhonda Keister (John), Bryan Stensland (Gloria) and Bruce Stensland, all of Blue Earth.Marvis worked several jobs throughout her life including a nurse''s aide at the Blue Earth hospital, Railway Motors in Fairmont, MN, the Elmore Nursery and spent over 20 years in the Faribault County Recorder''s office, serving as County Recorder for 4 of them. After retirement she enjoyed being a greeter for Patton Funeral Home. She also cleaned homes for many people.Marvis enjoyed keeping busy in many different ways. Most included helping those she loved. She was the chairman of the dining room committee at Trinity Lutheran for many years. She also enjoyed her bowling league, golfing, card club and cruising with her dear friend Audrey Ankeny. Grandma "Great"Marvis was always around to lend a helping hand and loved to rock and walk her great grandbabies. She helped people hang countless rolls of wallpaper as she was known as "the wallpaper lady". She was a dear friend to many.Marvis is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father & mother, her step-father, a brother and sister, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and one daughter-in-law.She will always be remembered for her feisty personality and her warm and giving smile.
