Mass of Christian Burial for Norman J. Duggan, 71, Blue Earth, MN will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Blue Earth, with Father Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Norman died on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the United Hospital District, Blue Earth. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9-11:00 am at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Patton Funeral Home, Blue Earth.Norman James Duggan was born on January 7, 1946 to James and Bertha (Osslund) Duggan in Mason City, IA. He was raised in Mason City. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1962, graduated from Mason City High School in 1964, graduated from Mason City Junior College in 1966 and Mankato State College in 1968. On November 10, 1968 Norman was united in marriage to Roberta J. Johnson at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. Norman entered the US Army in 1968 where he completed basic training at Ft. Dix, NJ. He attended OCS at Ft. Benning, Georgia graduating in 1969. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX and in South Korea. In 1971 Norman left the Army and moved to Lake Crystal where he attended Mankato State College, graduating with his MBA in 1973. He moved to Blue Earth in 1971 when he bought the Cedar Inn Drive Inn. He operated the drive inn for 41 years. In 1980 he opened the Cedar Inn Car Wash and had it until 2016. Norman was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he was an usher and was on the financial committee, member of the Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus and served as Scoutmaster for Troop 49 in Blue Earth. He was active in Christmas Wonderland for many years. He loved 50''s music, cars, traveling, skiing and woodworking. He attended the Buddy Holly memorial at the Surf every year.Norman is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta Duggan, Blue Earth; one daughter, Amy (Chris) Pierce, Fairmont, MN; two sons, Brad (Shanna) Duggan, Marion, IA, Tim Duggan, Linkou County, Taiwan; three grandchildren, Reagan Pierce, James Duggan, John Duggan; one sister, Roxi (Larry) Espinosa, Mason City, IA; one brother, John (Angie) Duggan, Mason City, IA.
