Ramona Firkins was born July 1, 1929, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Kittie (Oswalt) Vore.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 2:00 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Jeanette J. Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Jim graduated from Iowa State College and took a job with Green Giant in Vinton, Iowa. During his 15 years with the Canning Co. they transferred to several plants with the plant in Blue Earth being the final transfer and it was here that he went into the Real Estate business. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in 1961. Mona was active in the church where she taught V.B.S. and release Time and was a choir member. She belonged to TLCW and served many church suppers. She was treasurer from 1967-1970 and became president of the group in 1971. She also served as Circle Chair and lesson leader. Mona did volunteer work at St. Luke''s and with the Red Cross blood Mobile. Favorite hobbies were her grandchildren, reading, embroidery, coffee with friends, and watching the Twins and Vikings!Mona is survived by her husband, Jim and her son, Bruce (Debra) of Bloomington, her son, Steve (Amy) of Black River Falls, WI, her daughter, Nancy (Steve) Smith of Blue Earth, her daughter, Diane (Wayne) Johanns of Jacksonville, FL, 9 grandchildren: Rick, Teri, Ezra, Kelly, Mike, Jenni, Sara, Lee, and Shawn, 13 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Betty Erickson of Aledo, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a sister, two brother''s-in-law and a sister-in-law.
