Franklin Donavon Blondin, age 70, of Elmore, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Elmore United Methodist Church in Elmore, with Rev. Mark Brickzin officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore at a later date. Visitation time will be from 5:00pm 7:00pm Monday, March 7, 2016, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comFrank was born May 21, 1945, at Elmore, MN, the son of Floren "Hip" and Phyllis (Jordahl) Blondin. He was raised in Elmore, attended school and graduated from Elmore High School in 1964. In 1971 he was married to Jan Espeland of Rake, IA and later divorced. Frank and Kandy (Herzog) Blondin were married August 14, 1982. Together they lived in Elmore for 34 years. He was a hard worker, and worked for many area farmers over the years. He loved being out on the open road, and was a truck driver for most of his life. He drove for Blachowski Trucking, and in 1998 Frank bought his own truck and became an independent driver. He was leased on to T-Brothers Trucking out of Sioux Falls.Frank was a bass guitarist with the Country Sirs and The Terhark Bros out of Southern Minnesota. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and working on anything that had a motor. Frank is survived by his wife, Kandy Blondin of Elmore, son , Clinton (Laura) Blondin of Andover, daughter, Nina (John) Hanevik of Elmore, sisters, Sharon (Dave) Carr of Sleepy Eye, Wanda Lloyd of Rogers, MN, sister-in-law''s, Kathy (Dale) Engelby of Ledyard, RaeLynn Richey of Spirit Lake, Sandy (Wayne) Johnston of Woodbury, MN, Sharon (Dave) Schroeder of Mt. Vernon, Paula (Darroll) Day of Lake City, MN, April (Duane) Schumann of Stewartville, MN, brother-in-law''s, Jerry Herzog of Golden Valley, Tom Apka of Mt. Vernon 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Blondin, Colten Blondin, Mariah, Lily and Jackson Blondin (Hanevik), step-children, Cheryl (Dave) Tupa, Dan Grabinger, Dean (Amy)Grabinger, many special nieces, nephews and cousins.Frank is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Ray and Bev Herzog.
