Catherine E. Weir

Catherine E. Weir, 88, of Winnebago passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.A Celebration of Life for Catherine will be 11:00AM June 13, 2016 at the Hope United Methodist Church of Blue Earth. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Catherine was born August 17, 1927 to Robert and Lois (Jenkins) Kiehm in Prescott Township.She attended country school and graduated from Delavan High School. Following graduation, Catherine went on to receive her Bachelor''s degree in education from the University of Minnesota.On June 10, 1950 Catherine married Kenneth L. Weir, and together had four children, Craig, Brian, Shauna and Dolf.Catherine began her teaching career at a country school in rural Delavan and retired from the Winnebago Elementary School after more than 30 years.She was a life-long gardener and will be remembered for her many lovely gardens. She was active in and lead many bible studies. Catherine was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved every moment she had with them. Catherine is survived by her children, Craig (Tonia) Weir of Delavan, Brian (Ann) Weir of Jordan, Shauna (David) More of Winnebago and Dolf (Karen) Weir of Howard lake; grandchildren, Spencer (Shelly) Weir, Jordan (Ami Heckmaster) Weir, Katina (Rob) Yancey, Daniel (April) Weir, Michael (Megan) Houghton, Matthew (Cristin) More, Joshua (Molly) More, Katie (Ben) Pherson, Danielle (Cameron) Palmer, Eva (Jackson Huston) Weir, Warren Weir, and Earl Weir; 17 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Lurene KiehmShe was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Warren and Willard Kiehm. Memorials are preferred to St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center or Parkview Care Center.
