Cancer took him prematurely on August 10, 2016. Harold attended country school until the 7th grade and graduated from Lakota High School in 1954. He was drafted in 1958 and proudly served his country, stationed in Germany, until 1960. They made their home three miles north of the home farm, where he continued working the land and caring for the livestock. Harold and Karen were blessed with three children, each born in April, Debra in 1964, Duane in 1968 and Laura in 1971. In 1976, they settled on the home farm, where Duane carries on the tradition today. Upon retirement in 2010, they made their residence in Blue Earth, MN. A perfectionist in all things, Harold loved to farm and care for the farm pets - dogs, cats and sheep. In what little spare time he had, he created beautiful wood furniture, picture frames, and other items for his family that will always be cherished. Harold enjoyed music and traveling, taking the scenic routes to see how people really lived in almost all 50 states, Europe, and Mexico. He also enjoyed attending the many concerts and school events of his children and grandchildren.
