DELORES JEAN WALKER, age 91, of Delavan, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Parkview Care Center in Wells.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Russ Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 5:00pm 7:00pm Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and one hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comDelores was born to William and Gladys (Altizer) McDermott July 7, 1925, at Lakota, IA, at the home of her grandparents George and Rachel Altizer. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1942. On October 6, 1946 she married Roland Orville Walker and together they had two children Tonia Jean and Kevin Roland. Delores was the secretary/bookkeeper at the Delavan School from March 1943 until the school closed in June 1997. She then worked at the Blue Earth Area School for 2 years during the consolidation transition period.Her passion was dancing, but she also enjoyed playing 500 card club, traveling to the Arabian Horse shows, and spending time with her family.She is survived by her daughter, Tonia (Craig) Weir, son, Kevin (Jannette) Walker, sister, Colette Jenkins, 5 grandchildren, Spencer (Shelly) Weir, Jordan (Ami Heckmaster) Weir, Megan (Tyler) Morrison, Heather (Ryan) Slama, LaNay (Andrew) Hervey, 4 great-grandchildren, Emersen and Ivy Weir, Kylyn and Clara Morrison.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland in 1989, parents, brothers, Keith and George, and sister Colleen Grupe.The family prefers memorials to be given to Parkview Care Center, 55 10th St SE in Wells, Minnesota.
