Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothea Alice (Bleess)(Brownlee) Hadlick, 98, Blue Earth, MN will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 10:00 am at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth with Father Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Dorothea died on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2-4:00 pm at Patton Funeral Home, Blue Earth and one hour before the services in the church. Web tributes may be left at pattonfh.com Dorothea Alice Bleess was born on September 20, 1916 in Jo Davis Township to Nicholas and Emilie (Ehrhardt) Bleess. She was raised in Jo Davis Township 2 miles west of Blue Earth. Dorothea graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1934 and from Teacher''s Training Dept. of Blue Earth in 1935. She taught rural schools from 1935-1942. In 1941 Dorothea was united in marriage to Marvin K. Brownlee at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She worked with him in their insurance agency occasionally until his death in 1963. She managed the agency until 1967 when she sold the business to the 1st National Agency and became the assistant manager there. In 1971 she left the bank and married Robert Hadlick. They lived on the farm in Prescott Township where he died in 1981. She continued living there and managing the farm until 2007 when she moved into Southview Estates in Blue Earth. In March of 2012 she entered St. Lukes. In 1967 Dorothea received the Woman of the Year Achievement Award. She was named to the Who''s Who of American Women in the 1974-75 Edition. Dorothea was active in many areas of the church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America since 1937, holding local, district and state offices. She loved her flowers and was happy when they gave pleasure to passers by. Her love for bowling began at the Ludtke Bowling Alley and Ankeny Lanes in Blue Earth many years ago. Later on she joined the Women''s League at the Lucky Lanes in Winnebago. She bowled for over 50 years. She received recognition for her many years of bowling by being inducted in the Winnebago Hall of Fame. Dorothea was the youngest in the Bleess family.Dorothea is survived by her two daughters, Ruth (Michael) Woitas of Mankato, MN, Kathy (John) Lowery of Frost, MN; two step daughters, Marcee Jadeja of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Rolaine Portman, Fort Smith, AR; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Bleess, Blue Earth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three sisters and eight brothers.
