Donna Jean Lowery Nelson 85 of Blue Earth died June 23, 2015, at her home with Ray, her special friend, at her side. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Russ Jacobsen officiating. She was the daughter of Clayton and Marvel (Thor) Lowery. She attended school in Elmore. She married Marvin Nelson in 1950 and they were blessed with three children, Brian, Mark and Teri, and an infant daughter that died at birth. They were later divorced. Donna lived in Blue Earth and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked as a teller at the First National Bank for five years before working at Blue Earth Light and Water Department for thirty years full time, then part time for another twelve years. Donna lived in Wells, Minnesota with special friend, Ray Wigern. After Ray''s retirement they moved back to Blue Earth. Donna enjoyed traveling, including several cruises and visiting many islands. Donna''s most enjoyable cruise was in 2001 with her daughter and daughter-in-law, her best friend Dee Oelke and her daughter and daughter-in-law. Donna is survived by her special friend Ray Wigern, her sons, Brian Nelson of Alpine, WY, Mark (Teri) Nelson of Blue Earth, MN and her daughter Teri (Mike) Siebel of Trempealeau, WI, Ray''s two daughters Denise (Donnie) Southwick of Janesville, MN and Tami (Tom) Margarit of St. Paul, MN, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, nephew, Dean (Linda) Koppen of Spencer, IA, niece, Sandy Smith of Port St. Lucie, Florida, niece, Heidi (Randy) Hammerschmidt of Chaska, MN, and her cat "George". Donna was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents, sister, Darlene Koppen Spear and brother, Charles "Chuck" Lowery and his wife Lavonne Lowery.
