Jay loved spending the summers with his Grandparents, Otto and Mary Anderson at Okoboji, where he enjoyed the water, fishing and being with family. Jay continued his love for the outdoors in High School by spending time with good friends hunting and fishing. After graduation in 1972, Jay moved to Forest City Iowa and began working at Winnebago Industries. In the fall of 1972 he met Beth and after a whirlwind courtship, they were married on April 7, 1973. They began their married life. Soon after, Michael James was born and blessed them with much joy.As Jay grew tired of the factory life he wanted to experience more of the pork industry. After successfully raising some pigs, given to him by his in-laws, Jim and Wanda Johnson, he was hired at Twin Agri in Buffalo Center Iowa. While there, their lives were blessed with joy again, when Eric Jay joined the family. In 1979, they moved to Klemme Iowa, where Jay eventually managed the Hog operation, LBJ, and Beth working alongside in farrowing. Jay and Beth were in Pork Production in Wells Minnesota from 1990 until 1998, when Jay was hired to manage Choice Connection, of Bricelyn Minnesota, where he worked until he left for health reasons. Jay loved his profession and worked a total of 38 years raising pigs. He met and made some very special friends along the way. His love for the outdoors evolved into a passion for gardening and landscaping and he and Beth loved to tend to their acreage together in Bricelyn. He fought good and hard and was heard to say, "It is what it is." He had a way of accepting what came his way. Faith in his Savior, Jesus, was his strength and his desire was to enter the heavenly home prepared for him. "The LORD is with me like a Mighty Warrior!"
