Betty Ann Ogburn was born February 24, 1925 in Blue Earth to Walter and Minnie (Engum) Heinrich. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed at Delavan Lutheran Church, Delavan, MN. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1942, Minnesota School of Business in 1943, and in 1947 from the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority for women in the College of Business. She worked for the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce following her graduation.On December 6, 1947, she married Harold D Ogburn, Jr. in Delavan, MN. The couple lived in Stony Creek, NY where they operated the Stony Creek Dude Ranch with Harold''s family. In 1952, they returned to Minnesota and began farming in the Delavan area. The family moved to rural Blue Earth in 1965. Betty Ann worked for the Faribault County Farm Bureau office before working for 15 years at St Luke''s Home as administrative secretary. In 2002, she and Harold moved into Blue Earth. In 2011, they moved to Parker Oaks Community in Winnebago.Betty Ann was active in the community throughout her life. She served in many ways at Trinity Lutheran Church, including offices in the TLCW and serving as Church Council President during the planning stages of the new church. She was involved with 4-H, County Extension, Faribault Co. Historical Society and school volunteer activities. She enjoyed traveling and wintering at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island, GA. Her grandchildren were the highlights of her retirement and she was known for her Hardanger needlework, sweet rolls, lefse and Norwegian goodies, as well her African violets. Betty Ann died October 20, 2015 at the age of 90.She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Winnebago, daughter, Judy (Dave) Jerde of White Bear Lake, son, Walt (Lynn) Ogburn of Stillwater and son-in-law Bob Hanson of Frost. Grandchildren, Erik (Elizabeth) & Mark (Sarah) Jerde, Amy (Chris) Jensen, Kristin & Kelly Ogburn, and Janie & Brice (Lacey) Hanson, great-grandchildren, Lydia Jerde & Zachary Jensen and many cousins. She was preceded in death by daughter, Vickie Hanson, parents, Walt & Minnie, in-laws Harold Sr. and Hazel Ogburn, brother, Victor Heinrich, sister-in-law, Shirley and husband, Armand Gazaille, and granddaughter-in-law, Tamara Jerde.The family would like to thank the staff of Parker Oaks for all of the loving care they gave to Betty Ann and continue to give the family. The family requests memorials to the Trinity Sanctuary Lighting Fund.
