Richard Edward Martin, age 77, of Mankato, formerly of Easton, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Care in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Emerald Township. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St. Blue Earth. Memorial donations are preferred to United Hands Hospice, Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, or Mayo Clinic Health Systems Mankato Dept. of Development.Richard was born October 1, 1936 in Rural Blue Earth to Erwin & Mertice (Stolp) Martin. He graduated from Delavan High School in 1954. Richard met Carol Dickman while they were in Jr. High and were united in marriage on January 2, 1958. Richard was in the Air Force by this time, and had to return to duty in Germany. Upon returning home, Richard and Carol started their family. They resided on the farm 4 miles South of Easton. Richard & Carol were members of Immanuel Lutheran church Emerald Township for many years.They enjoyed traveling, where they wintered in the warmth of California. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada & Baudette, MN, flying his Cessna 172, farming, and visiting with others. They lived on their farm until 2008, when they moved to Mankato. Surviving family are his son, Jim and wife Tammy, one granddaughter Claudia and two step grandchildren all of Brandon, SD, son, Stephen and wife Sheryl from Las Vegas NV, brother, Gerald (Maxine) Martin and their family, sister, Shirley (Gary) Goodrich and their family and sister-in-law, Sharon (Ardeen) Beers and their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, and sister Linda Thorson.
