ESTHER L HANSON, age 96, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at United Hospital District. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Faith Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Brent Walker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4:00 pm 7:00pm Friday, March 14, 2014, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Blue Earth and 1 hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comEsther was born April 7, 1917, in Bricelyn the daughter of Ole T. & Elizabeth (Gronfor) Silrum.She was a 1925 graduate of Bricelyn High School and then took her Normal Training. She taught in the Bricelyn Country School before her marriage to Oswald M. Hanson on September 25, 1940 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Frost. She taught for a short time at Frost High School before starting her family. Esther had also become a nurse, working at the Blue Earth Hospital. She attended Floral Arts School and owned & operated Esther''s Flowers for a few years before resuming her nursing career at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center. While at St. Luke''s she earned her LPN and eventually retired in the late 1980''s. Esther was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. She faithfully helped share her Love of Jesus with her church and community through leading Bible Study classes and singing hymns of faith. She is survived by her son, Donald (Sonja) Hanson of Caledonia, IL, daughter, Dianne (Richard) Gunhus of Blue Earth, sister-in-law, Marie Silrum of Eagan, five grandchildren, Heidi Nevoso, Trudi (Shawn) Ainsworth, Cari (Dan) Schirmer, Sheila (Michael) Busch, Suzanne (Scott) Otto, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Esther was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, sisters, Alma Holmseth, Dena Erdal and Brothers: Edwin, Jorgen, Reuben & Thilmer Silrum and a daughter-in-law, Ann Hanson.
