Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Gertrude was born January 8th, 1916 to Andrew and Allette (Midtbo) Bromeland in Brush Creek Township, MN. During her childhood she attended District 82 country school before attending Blue Earth High School. At the young age of 15, Gertrude and her family lost their beloved mother to illness. Gertrude quickly had to adjust to being the only girl in the family. Family was important to her, so she chose to be at home helping her father on the farm and take on the motherly role of raising her three younger brothers. Gertrude was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clarence J. Mohr, on March 30th, 1940 in Bricelyn, MN. Out of this union, Ellen (Mohr) Clarkson and David Mohr became family. The couple farmed many years in Brush Creek Township. The home they lived in was the one Gertrude had been born in 70 years before. Being a lifetime member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church helped Gertrude achieve her dreams. One of the dreams she had was to be a teacher and a journalist. She was active in the church circle, ladies aid, coordinating holiday programs, and taught Sunday School, just to name a few, but all of which gave her a love she needed and wanted to share with all. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church. Gertrude knew her Lord, trusted in Him, served Him, and loved Him. What a glorious day for her when He called her home.Oh how she loved her children, grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and more cousins! A lot of laughter filled the walls within the families. That was when Sundays were busy with friends and relatives stopping by to visit or have coffee, lunch, or just to let the kids play and the old folk share good times. In the late 1980''s, Gertrude and Clarence retired and moved to Frost, MN although she could never quite retire from all the requests for her wonderful donuts, cookies, or kringla. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress, having made many quilts, and helping with many bridesmaids and wedding dresses over the years. Gertrude was an active member of the Senior Citizen Center while in Frost, where she enjoyed playing cards and socializing with her friends.Gertrude was a beautiful woman who loved unconditionally. She gave us gifts of the spirit and soulA true woman of GraceShe will be missed dearly.Gertrude is survived by her son, David (Barb) Mohr of Washburn, WI, her daughter, Ellen (Harry) Clarkson of Minong, WI , four grandchildren: Cathy (Blake) Hvambsal of Blaine, Sheila (Chad) Schonrock of Blue Earth, John Clarkson of Fairbanks, AK., & Clay Mohr of Minneapolis, and seven great grandchildren: Dylan & Dyrk Hvambsal, Cristi Falkenberg, Daniel Meyer, Tyler, Nick & Zac Schonrock. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Clarence in 1993 and three brothers: Arnold, Donald and Melvin Bromeland.
