ALICE ZIMMERMAN-MADSEN, age 102, of Mapleton, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 1:30 PM, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton, MN. Visitation time will be one hour before the service at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. She attended schools in Mapleton and was married to Rolla Zimmerman on February 5, 1930. Alice was a homemaker raising four children and was the oldest living member of the United Church of Mapleton, having begun to attend in 1930. Her family was of greatest importance to her but she also enjoyed the company and conversation of friends, cooking, baking pies, playing cards, sewing & embroidery, dancing and shopping. Rolla died in 1969 and she was later married to Stanley Madsen on January 14, 1989; he passed away in 2001. Alice was a caring person, having helped care for her husbands, father and father-in-law at the end of their lives and having cared for foster children through the years. Alice is survived by her daughter, Maxine Durkee of Winnebago, her son, Larry Zimmerman of New Ulm, her daughter in law, DuAnn Zimmerman of Elmore, her daughter in law, Marjorie Zimmerman of Owatonna, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren, stepchildren: Marlene (Gerald) Moeller, Mary Ann (Marlyn) Hagen, Marvel Snyder, Marvin (Sharon) Madsen, John (Glenda) Madsen, Jerry Madsen.She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son, Jim "Red" Zimmerman, son, Dale Zimmerman, daughter-in-law, Beverly Zimmerman, son-in-law, Maurice Durkee, grandson, Brian Zimmerman, granddaughter, Jo Ellen Lindemann and grandson, Jeff Zimmerman, step-son, Don Snyder.
