Marvis Jean Northwick, age 83 of Blue Earth, died Sunday July 27, 2014 at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 30 th, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Memorials are preferred to St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center or United Hospital District Home Health/Hospice.Marvis was born July 3, 1931 the daughter of Otis T. and Mildred B. (Peterson) Hougen. Marvis was raised and educated in Blue Earth. She was united in marriage to Russell "Mike" Northwick on May 5, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. She worked as a telephone operator at the Blue Earth telephone company and went on to work at Blue Earth Area Schools for 26 years as a cook. After retirement she began working for Patton Funeral Home, where she took great pleasure in greeting and visiting with many people. Marvis was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and and an active member in the VFW and Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed spending time with her twin sister, Mavis, playing bingo and finding treasures at rummage sales. She also cherished weekends at Sager Lake with dear friends and family. Marvis, above all, enjoyed people and time spent with others.Marvis is survived by her daughter, Ranet (James) Schmeichel of Odessa, MN and son Ryan (Marie) Northwick of Blue Earth. Also surviving are her sisters, Beverly (Frank) Kitzman of Janesville, & Erma (Bud) Schwab of Bass Lake. Grandchildren: Corey (Fiance Christina) Joyce, Shawn (Shea) Joyce and Chris (Lacy) Joyce, Jeremiah Schmeichel, Ryan Schmeichel and Daniel Schmeichel, Raina (Tim) Juba and Reid (Kim) Northwick; nine great grandchildren and one great granddaughter due in November along with many nieces & nephews and their families.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mike, brother, Jerry Hougen, twin sister, Mavis Anderson, sister-Nylene Holmseth, brothers-in-law: Andy Anderson, Laurice Holmseth, Butch Northwick, Eugene Northwick & Robert Northwick and sisters-in-law: Blanche Wells Char Northwick & Mona Teig
