Frances L. Helland, age 88 of Blue Earth, formerly of Bricelyn, died Sunday July 27, 2014 at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Blue Earth, with Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. She attended Bricelyn Public School and graduated in 1944. On February 3, 1945 she was united in marriage to Erling O. Helland at her parents home. The couple farmed in the Bricelyn & Frost area for many years until they retired to Frost in 1982. They attended Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Frost. Her husband passed away in 1990 and Frances later moved to Blue Earth in 1998. Her favorite time was when she could have her children and their families around her. Frances also loved her knitting and counted cross stitch. She is survived by her children, Lyndon (Linda) Helland of Plymouth, Lois (Ron) Mellum of Rogers, Larry (Vickie) Helland of Bricelyn, five grandchildren: Laura (Cary) Helland Isbel, Alyssa Helland, Kelsey Helland, Jonathan Mellum & Krista Mellum, four great grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Aiden, and Piper Isbel, sister, Mavis (Lester) Egeness of Frost, sister-in-law Leota Dahl of Bricelyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Erling, brother, Gerald Dahl, sister, Joyce Pendergast, and sister-in-law Ardis Knutson.
