Alvin Duane "Al" Frank, age 82, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from a long battle with lung cancer and COPD.He was born March 6, 1932 in Prescott, WI, the son of Everett and Vera (Belter) Frank. He graduated from Blue Earth (MN) High School in1950 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he joined the family business, Frank Brothers Elevator with his father and brother.He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN and a friend to St. John''s Lutheran Church in Bullhead City, AZ for 21 years. He was also a lifetime member and past commander of American Legion Post 89, Sergeant of Arms for the American Legion Firing Squad, past chairman of the Minn-Iowa Golf Course and a past board member of Snow Rovers Snowmobile Club.On May 4, 1957 he married Hollis (Holly) Rosengren. They were married for over 57 years.Survivors include his wife Holly; daughters, Cathryn Frank of Bloomington, MN, Carolyn Diaz of St. Charles, MO, Paulette Frank of Ledyard, IA; son and daughter in-law Stephen and Kim Frank of Blue Earth, MN, his brother and sister-in-law David and Kathy Frank of Blue Earth, MN, his sister Ruth Falkenberg of San Rafael, CA; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leon, sisters Betty Buffie, Norma Lange, Patricia Kapplinger and grandson Robert Paul Standing.Memorial Services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St., Blue Earth. Memorials are preferred to UHD Hospice.
